You notice some pain in your jaw when chewing, which progressively worsens over several weeks. Occasionally you feel a clicking or catching in your jaw when opening and closing your mouth. Eventually you are unable to fully open your mouth and experience pain even when you speak. If you have never experienced this, count yourself very lucky. If you have, you are already familiar with the relatively common condition known as TMD.

TMD, short for temperomandibular disorder, is estimated to affect as much as 40% of the population at some point in their lifetimes, and is especially prevalent in the young. Initial diagnosis is typically made through a visit to the dentist, and the eventual treatment multidisciplinary with various management techniques. One of the lesser known treatment techniques, but something that is gaining in popularity, is soft-tissue therapy of the masticatory muscles the muscles used to move the jaw.

As a sports chiropractor using manual soft-tissue therapy on a daily basis, I have treated TMD on many occasions with success, however good research on the subject has been lacking. Recently however, this type of myofascial therapy for TMD was tested for efficacy in a randomized, controlled clinical trial. Researchers from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia examined the clinical effectiveness of manual therapy in the treatment TMD. Specifically, they compared myofascial therapy to myofascial therapy plus self-care and education and no care (the control group in the study).

This was a private clinic-based study, with eligible participants ranging from age 18-50 presenting with jaw pain with or without joint sounds of at least 3 months and a willingness to participate in the study. Patients with physical or psychological contraindications were excluded. The outcome measures were jaw pain at rest, jaw pain upon maximal active opening, and jaw pain upon clenching.

The primary therapy consisted of myofascial release of the masticatory muscles, including the temporalis, medial and lateral pterygoid, and masseter. The subjects were treated twice per week over a period of 6 weeks for a total of 12 therapy sessions. Additionally, one group was given additional education and self-care consisting of self-mobilization, exercises and stretching, as well as general education on TML anatomy, biomechanics, disc displacement and dysfunction, and the role of psychoemotional factors contributing to TMD.

The results showed a statistically significant positive efficacy for both the myofascial therapy only, and the myofascial therapy plus education and self-care groups. Not surprisingly, the therapy plus self-care group showed a better 1 year outcome than the therapy alone group a trend that has been supported for the care of most musculoskeletal conditions.

Although the results of this study are no surprise to those practicing manual therapy, it serves to reinforce what we already know anecdotally. For patients suffering from TMD there is now evidence for another great intervention, and for manual therapists not currently treating TMD, there is a great opportunity to expand your skillset and serve those in need.

It is watched when someone gets their credit report with a 3rd party concerned, including applying for a lending or at the car dealership. This would not be shown should you were to get a report in your own without a 3rd party.

When we see Medical Payment Data in your report, we don’t contact them. Because inside reality there is not a “them” to contact because it is only a term denoting a healthcare selections in your credit report./p>

This is carried out inside order to shield the individual’s name requesting the credit report, due to federal confidentiality laws. What a next step would be is to call the credit reporting agencies that list the selections on healthcare report. If you call the credit reporting agencies, they can inform we that currently owns the debt.

Once we receive the data within the credit reporting agencies we can contact the healthcare collection agency directly. It is because they are the owners of the debt plus the hospital is from the pic now. It is not totally acknowledged how the credit agencies treat different debts, but it is actually thought that hospital debt is less bad in your credit report.

Certainly should you are working with a human reviewing a application including at a small bank or vehicle dealership you have some leeway with having healthcare payment data in your credit report. It is as it might show you had extenuating circumstances. This especially assists when few other selections take the report.

If we feel this might be harming a credit write we can function with the collection agency inside removing the bad mark off of your report. If you can pay the collection agency right after they obtain it within the hospital we maybe capable to avoid it going onto your credit report at all.

The older the debt is, the more, the less you need to give to repay the debt. A debt that is several years of age we only might give a portion of the initial bill. If the debt is modern, we may pay the full amount or close into it. The best thing to do is have the ding completely removed, this may aid a score the many. If not we can at least have the bill in your report pronounced paid inside whole.

Photodynamic therapy is the general name given to therapy using light-lamps of different types. Such light sources (filtered light or LED) are commonly used by dermatologists to repair skin and even psychiatrists to fight depression and sleep disorders (such as the winter blues etc). The effectiveness of blue light is still being studied on a clinical and institutional level, however, since the FDA approves of light therapy (especially blue light), many medical practitioners use it to great effect, often claiming very good results for the majority of their subjects (unofficially).

Varicose, spider veins, acne and the removal of marks on the skin due to discoloration (caused by wounds or surgery) are the most common uses of light for skin therapy. New uses of light, specifically of blue colored light (with a wavelength between 405-455 nm), are still being discovered today. Many treatments combine the use of this type of light with red light and other medication to cure many skin afflictions, the most common of which are acne and some other bacterial infections. The following are some of the other uses of blue light which have proven effective.

Anti aging light treatment
The treatment of skin to reduce the effects of aging is called photo-rejuvenation. The application of focused light can increase the production the chemicals in the skin which make it arrear fresh and youthful (collagen and elastin). Smile lines, age lines and wrinkles are commonly treated with light of various frequencies, including blue light. Many people all over the world regularly use this type of treatment as an addition to cosmetic surgery or other skin care treatment.

Drug allergy symptoms on the skin surface
Allergies which cause inflammation and discoloration of the skin are commonly experienced with the use of medicines for other purposes. Even though these effects are actually side effects of other causes usually unrelated to the skin, the symptoms can still be treated using light therapy.

Rosacea
This condition causes the skin on the face; cheeks, nose forehead neck and even the chin to appear red as though burnt raw or flushed. This skin condition is not medically understood to a great extent and is usually chronic and untreatable with medication. This condition is known to cause psychological difficulties as it affects the appearance in a negative way and can affect a person’s confidence and self esteem over a long term. The reason for this condition is understood to be damaged blood vessels, and light therapy using pulses of various types of mixed light in certain instances has been seen to disintegrate these damaged vessels, helping remove this symptom and leaving the skin looking natural and healthy without the use of drugs or creams.

With some trepidation, that time has arrived to take baby home. Mom and dad and baby: a new unit, a new group, a new family, a new adventure, and a new life for all. How are you going to manage? Will baby thrive? Will mom survive? Am I going to be able to get this little one to sleep?

There are lots of considerations for all when bringing your new baby home from hospital. There is all the physical preparation – which you have had many months to think about and work on; there is the emotional preparation – that which in many ways you cannot prepare for at all, but an amazing thing happensa thing called maternal instinct!

The important thing to remember is that you will be all right – billions have trod this path before you, probably your sister or best friend – even you mother has done this! But the feelings of anxiety are understandable, as you make your way home for the first time.

It is important to remember that you will be the best mom you can be, and your partner will be the best dad he can be. You may fear the late nights, or lack of sleep, or the challenge of settling an upset baby. All that is still to come. The good news is that the first few days and nights at home, and in the first few weeks of baby’s life, she will sleep for far more of the time than she is awake. This gives both baby and mom time to recover from the rigors of labour. The process of learning to deal with those challenges happens gradually (albeit over a fairly short period of time).

Sleep is essential to baby’s development. The baby’s brain is growing at an incredible rate – laying down the cells and neural pathways for the physical, emotional and cognitive development. Sleep is an essential component of this development. Sleep refreshes the baby, allows her to become alert and engage with her surroundings.

The first few days and weeks are a time of elation and discovery. It is a time where you will have the space to get ready for the joys of a bringing up a growing baby, with all the practical challenges ahead. Your new baby will bring great joy and a sense of love and intimacy you have never experienced before. The earliest sleep pattern will encourage rest and recovery, and lay the platform for a well sleeping baby in the first three years of life. But for nowenjoy it while you can.

It seems like every month people hear about a few hospitals being forced to close or cut back services because of losses. Part of that can be related to the fact that they have to treat every patient that comes through the door, regardless of ability to pay. Some of it might be the low reimbursement rates from the government for Medicare and Medicaid patients. Regardless of the reasons, every hospital desires to cut costs and save money without affecting patient care. Using automated physician billing services can really make a difference in the bottom line.

Even just a few years ago, most hospitals employed a physician as an employee of the hospital. In the last decade or so many have gradually shifted to an independent contractor model to save costs. When the physician is an employee, the hospital must carry some of the burden for malpractice insurance not only for themselves, but for employees as well. Shifting doctors to independent contractors frees a lot of these costs from the hospital to the doctor. Many doctors like this as well, as they can negotiate their rates for services rather than be paid a fixed fee. They are also free to associate with multiple hospitals, which gives them the possibility for many more patient visits.

None of this would be possible without automated accounting systems. Hospitals must now track both doctors and patients, pay doctors for their services, and additionally collect money from both patients doctors when necessary. Most physicians utilize finance software as well to track what they are owed by both the hospital and the patient. The usage of hospital billing has skyrocketed in recent years because it really keeps everyone on top of payables and receivables that are due.

The main benefit of all of this is to reduce costs and increase revenue for all parties. Where a few years ago someone might be able to slip through the cracks and not pay the bill to a physician or a hospital, automated hospital billing services make that a virtual impossibility now. The software automatically ages accounts with a due balance to 30, 60 and 90 days due. It makes it easy to see which accounts are likely not to pay and then send them to collections in a timely manner which decreases losses.

The efficiency of the modern services makes a difference as well. Some patients may see 5 or 6 doctors in a single hospital stay, and interact with at least as many different departments. Modern accounting services are able to cross reference every interaction a patient or a physician has and dramatically reduce billing errors such as under-billing or double billing for the same service. This results in fewer hours wasted trying to resolve problems, and more time spent running a hospital.

Since 1993, I’ve dealt with type 2 diabetes personally. Well before that date, I was dealing with emotional depressions of varying depths. For a significant portion of my life, I knew of no other way of being. My depression has seemed stronger than therapy, medications, and anything else I tried to make it so I could feel like other people looked.

This dissatisfaction has been endured, not enjoyed in the least. I’ve paid a series of costs over time. The level of B vitamins, which are key in the development and maintenance of the nervous system, are well connected with type 2 diabetes and clinical depression. This is what some doctors have deduced and documented in published reports.

B vitamins can be proven to be related to depression control, here’s some proof. In a report published in Psychosomatics in the late 1980’s, A. Missagh Gharirian of McGill University in Montreal, it was stated that low levels of the B vitamin folic acid was linked to depression. Relief of depression was achieved with folic acid supplementation when people that had both issues were studied under Dr. Ghadirian’s care. Modification of depression occurred within 100 days of folic acid supplementation.

folic acid was given at generally accepted dosages:800 mg a day for soon-to-be mothers, 500 mg a day for nursing mothers, and 400 mg a day for adults. Unused amounts are removed within 24 hours by the body – it is water soluble.

Absorbable folic acid is abundant in vegtable broth from warming fresh vegetables.

B vitamins are easily blocked from the body through interaction with many over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Some of the things that interfere with B vitamins include Vitamin C at high levels, several chemotherapy drugs, both aspirin (commonly prescribed to type 2 diabetics) and acetaminophen (Tylenol),

A common type 2 diabetic drug is metaformin. It controls both glucose and encourages insulin sensitivity. It also interferes with vitamin B12 absorption. Decreased B12 absorption is proven in between 10 and 30 percent of the type 2 diabetics that are taking metaformin, according to the Diabetes Self Management blog. Some people increased their energy dramatically by supplementing with B12, according to posts at that blog.

A lack of energy will certainly encourage — is that the right word?– depression, and a nervous system that produces numbness and tingling in the feet certainly isn’t up to snuff as well. My point is that even if there isn’t a proven link specifically between type 2 diabetes, B12 vitamin deficiency, and depression, it certainly wouldn’t be much of a stretch. Especially for some who lives through it, like me.

First, I’m seriously wired by nature and am not someone who can stop thinking. I have learned to meditate very effectively once I learned some facts about real meditation.

Problem one is thinking that you can’t meditate, or it’s not real meditation if you have thoughts going through your head. You do NOT have to stop thinking, or empty your mind of thoughts…that will happen ON ITS OWN if you meditate correctly.

If you’re closed-minded, your ability to reach deep states of meditation, or spiritual connectedness, is restricted. This is the way we are designed…scientifically. Meditation at its core, is meant to slow down brain waves, whether you know it or not. It’s just like you may know how to drive a car, but have no clue what’s going on mechanically. People will meditate for relaxation, healing, spiritual connection, communication, access to the infinite field of consciousness…whatever your reason, it is all only attainable directly as a result of slowing your brain waves to a certain frequency range.

The four major brainwave states/frequencies are: Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta in that order. More info is available on the specific states via the link in my bio. Meditation is mainly attempting to bring the brain to the Theta and Delta states. This is where everything happens: the connection, communication, healing, access to the quantum field of consciousness. So the point is to slow your brain waves.

You do need time, especially if you don’t use tools to help you. It’s just like trying to relax, except much deeper. You need time to relax…and you can also use music or other tools to help you. Meditation music was what I found to be the most helpful for me. Real meditation music…like with binaural beats. The music is specially made to influence your brain to slow down…to chill out.

Watch on things that raise the rate of your brain waves, like certain colors. Red, for example is a very high rate of vibration. Deep blue is among the slowest. I recommend keeping your eyes shut the whole time.

Most of the meditation music that I bought, was effective, but very long. I decided to make my own music which is made to bring the brain waves from Beta to low Alpha in less than 6 minutes, and then another music track that goes from low Alpha to low Theta in less than 6 minutes again.

The Beta to low Alpha meditation music track is available for free. The Theta music track is available to buy. There is a music link in my bio.
